Chelsea are set to make an addition to their already bloated squad as one of their long term absentees is set to make a return. It is being reported that the player will join up with the travelling pre-season squad in Hong Kong when the Blues will be taking on Juventus on August 5 before heading to Indonesia to face AC Milan. It is a hectic start to Xabi Alonso’s debut campaign with a lot of travel and friendlies leading into their curtain-raiser against Fulham at the end of the month.

Mykhailo Mudryk Cleared to Return
The FA released a statement that has clarified the status of Mykhailo Mudryk. The former Shakhtar Donetsk man has been cleared to play again after being banned since October 2024 due to a positive test for a banned substance. It is noted that a change to their rules means that the same sample, if tested today, would not have been deemed a positive dosage and as such, his ban has been lifted.
Fabrizio Romano expanded on this, noting that the attacker is expected to join up with Chelsea in Hong Kong on the second leg of their pre-season tour which is currently seeing them based in Australia for a friendly with Tottenham and one that’s already taken place against Western Sydney Wanderers.
A Return For An Interesting Winger
The Ukrainian left-winger had a mixed time before his suspension, failing to live up to his high price tag but he had been showing some flashes in the Conference League and occasional outings off the bench under Enzo Maresca. One fan has already stated that this is “like a new signing for us” as Mudryk would add to the left wing depth which was weak following a dismal debut campaign for Jamie Gittens.

With 22 goal contributions in 73 Chelsea appearances, there have certainly been some indications that the attacker has the ability to contribute. The main issue will be his consistency and overall play as those were weaker during his previous run.
