Jeremy Jacquet missed Liverpool's latest training session during the pre-season tour of the US, with his chances of making his debut against Leeds now in major doubt

Jeremy Jacquet’s chances of making his Liverpool debut this weekend have been thrown into major doubt after the defender was absent from the Reds’ training session on Friday.
Andoni Iraola’s side is coming to the end of its pre-season tour of the US, with just one game remaining before it heads back to Merseyside. Liverpool faces Leeds in Chicago on Sunday, having already beaten Sunderland and Wrexham over the past week.
The game in Illinois had been expected to be Jacquet’s first appearance for the club, with the defender having missed the opening two friendlies as the club remained cautious following his shoulder surgery earlier this year.
However, despite Iraola previously indicating that Jacquet would play a part against Leeds, the 21-year-old’s involvement looks to be in doubt after he was not spotted during Friday’s open training session along with the rest of his teammates.
Jacquet instead took part in a gym session away from the cameras, with Liverpool continuing to manage his workload carefully. The defender has not played a competitive game since February, when he picked up his shoulder injury while playing for former club Rennes.
It remains to be seen whether he will be able to play a part in Sunday’s game, but Liverpool may have to rely on its academy options to fill in at the back once again.

Giovanni Leoni was also in the gym on Friday rather than being out on the training pitch as he continues his recovery from the ACL injury he suffered on debut last September, and will likely have to wait until the return to the UK to make his return.
Meanwhile, Joe Gomez remains out, with Iraola having indicated this week that the 29-year-old will miss the start of the new season, with Liverpool facing Newcastle in its opening game on August 23.
Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak and Ryan Gravenberch remain on course to make their first appearance of pre-season on Sunday, having taken part in training on Friday. The trio were not in the squad against Wrexham earlier in the week, but Iraola is expecting them to play against Leeds.

And in another boost for the Reds, Wataru Endo was seen back in training with the rest of his teammates. The midfielder has been recovering from a foot injury, having been forced to pull out of Japan’s squad for the World Cup before announcing his international retirement.
It remains to be seen whether he will be involved in Sunday’s friendly. The Reds will return to Merseyside following the weekend’s game, where they will be reunited with Virgil van Dijk and Cody Gakpo, who have begun training back at the AXA Training Centre.
Goalkeeper Alisson Becker is expected to return soon, while Alexis Mac Allister and new signing Victor Munoz will follow later after their involvement in the World Cup final. Liverpool will play three more friendlies back in the UK, with one against Monaco on August 9 and two against Como on August 16.
