Bruno Guimaraes sparks Arsenal talk with emotional Howe message
Bruno Guimaraes has appeared to drop another Arsenal transfer hint while paying an emotional tribute to Eddie Howe following his Newcastle United departure.
Howe stepped down on Friday after almost five years at St James’ Park, having led Newcastle into the Champions League and ended their 70-year wait for a major domestic trophy.
Guimaraes responded with a lengthy Instagram tribute to the manager who signed him from Lyon in January 2022 and later appointed him Newcastle captain.
“Without a doubt, you are one of the best managers I’ve ever had,” Guimaraes wrote, as relayed by The Sun.
However, an earlier message caught particular attention. Guimaraes wrote that there were “no words” to describe how much he “enjoyed being” Howe’s player, using language which has added further uncertainty surrounding his own future.

Arsenal have been pursuing Guimaraes throughout the summer after the 28-year-old informed Newcastle that he wants to move to the Emirates Stadium.
Sky Sports previously reported that the conditions of a possible deal had been explored, with Newcastle demanding a significant fee for their captain.
Howe had been one of the strongest advocates for keeping Guimaraes. ReadArsenal previously reported that Howe had held “really good talks” with his captain while admitting he could not guarantee the midfielder would stay.
His departure removes an important figure from the Newcastle project at a time when Arsenal are attempting to complete a deal.
Guimaraes’ tribute should not be treated as confirmation that he is leaving. However, alongside his stated desire to join Arsenal and Newcastle’s major summer changes, his wording will inevitably increase expectations that his time on Tyneside is approaching an end.
