Evertonians gather in Hamburg ahead of Blues’ pre-season clash
Everton’s Hamburg trip was always about more than just 90 minutes of football. The cynics would argue that’s a good thing given the current form.
Ahead of today’s pre-season meeting with Hamburger SV, travelling Evertonians came together on Friday evening for a special supporters’ event designed to celebrate the bond between the club and its fans. It was named DasToffeeFest.
The gathering gave Blues supporters who had made the journey to Germany the opportunity to meet fellow Evertonians, enjoy live entertainment and share the experience of following their club abroad.
With Everton’s men’s and women’s teams both involved in the Volksparkstadion double-header, the weekend has provided supporters with a unique chance to be part of a wider club occasion rather than simply attend a friendly fixture.
The supporters’ evening, organised as part of Everton’s Hamburg visit, included music, entertainment and appearances from former Everton players, creating a relaxed atmosphere before attention turned towards today’s match.
For many travelling Blues, these moments are an important part of following Everton.

Pre-season fixtures often provide the opportunity to experience different cities, meet supporters from across the world and strengthen the sense of community that has always been central to this club.
The Hamburg trip also reflects Everton’s continued efforts to engage with supporters beyond traditional matchdays.
As the club enters a new era under The Friedkin Group, overseas fixtures provide an opportunity to strengthen relationships with existing fans while showcasing Everton to a wider audience.
Today’s match against Hamburger SV remains the main focus, with supporters hoping to see further progress from David Moyes’ squad ahead of the new campaign.
However, for those who travelled to Germany, the memories will not only come from what happens on the pitch. The friendships made, the shared experiences, and the feeling of being part of the Everton family will be just as important.
Everton’s Hamburg visit has once again shown that supporting a football club is about far more than football.
