Joao Pedro set for new Chelsea deal after stunning first year
Chelsea are set to reward João Pedro with a new contract following an outstanding first year at Stamford Bridge.
The decision comes despite the striker already being tied down until 2032, with the Blues also aware of interest from Barcelona.
The Athletic reports that Chelsea are preparing improved and extended terms for the 24-year-old.
João Pedro joined from Brighton for more than £50million last summer and quickly established himself as the club’s first-choice striker.
Across his first year as a Chelsea player, including the 2025 Club World Cup, the Brazilian scored 23 goals and provided nine assists in 53 appearances.
Chelsea have also made their position clear amid interest from Barcelona. ReadChelsea previously reported that the Blues consider João Pedro untouchable and have no intention of discussing his departure.
Chelsea forward Joao Pedro is in line to be rewarded with a new contract.
The 24-year-old forward joined Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer for a deal in excess of £50million and signed a seven-year contract that runs until 2032.

João Pedro Chelsea contract rewards impressive first year
The striker has carried that form into Xabi Alonso’s first pre-season.
João Pedro scored a nine-minute hat-trick in Chelsea’s 6-4 victory over Western Sydney Wanderers, further strengthening his position at the front of Alonso’s attack.
The new contract would provide another clear indication of Chelsea’s faith in him despite the club continuing to assess other forwards.
Danny Welbeck has been targeted this summer, while Liam Delap and Emmanuel Emegha could leave if suitable offers arrive. João Pedro remains firmly outside those discussions.
He described last season as “one of the best seasons” of his career during an April interview with Chelsea.
The João Pedro Chelsea contract is therefore less about protecting the club from an imminent expiry and more about rewarding one of their most important players.
