The U18s continued their preparations on Saturday with a friendly against Gamba Osaka, though they slipped to a 2-0 defeat after conceding twice in the second half despite an encouraging opening period.

Liverpool created chances of their own, with Zak Coxon going close to opening the scoring, while several youngsters continued building valuable match fitness ahead of another demanding academy campaign.
One of the biggest boosts, however, came with the return of Cameron Williams.
The highly-rated left-back made his comeback after injury, looking sharp down the left flank during his first appearance since February.

Comfortable operating as a traditional left-back or in more advanced roles, Williams is viewed as one of the brightest defenders in the academy.
With Liverpool’s defensive depth already being tested across multiple age groups, seeing Williams back on the pitch is another encouraging sign as preparations for the new season continue.
