Everton have reached an agreement to sign Danish midfielder Christian Nørgaard from Premier League champions Arsenal for a fee of around £7 million.
In an exclusive by The Athletic's David Ornstein, the deal still needs to be formalised, however a medical is booked for next week ahead of the move to Merseyside.
Nørgaard would become the Toffees' fourth signing of the summer window, and the second midfielder to be signed, after Hayden Hackney joined from Middlesbrough earlier in the window.
The champions signed Nørgaard last summer from Brentford for around £10 million, but he only made 20 appearances overall, with seven of them coming in the Premier League.

The Toffees let go of Idrissa Gueye on a free transfer following the end of last season, so Nørgaard adds a bit more experience in midfield particularly, with James Garner (25), Hackney (24), Tim Iroegbunam (23) and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (27) all still yet to hit the peak ages of their career.
The leadership aspect is also important, as Séamus Coleman left following 16 years at the club, so adding a former Premier League captain in Nørgaard will be a skillset that David Moyes looked at fondly.
Opens up space for Arsenal to sign a midfielder
For Arsenal, the Dane becomes the second sale of the summer window, following Leandro Trossard's sale to Besiktas for £15.3 million, and it also opens up a squad space in midfield, with the Gunners closing in on the blockbuster signing of Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimarães.
A sale was always likely for Nørgaard, considering he had fallen behind both Myles Lewis-Skelly and Mikel Merino in the pecking order, and Arsenal recouping the majority of the fee that they paid just over a year ago is quite important.
That matters especially in the era of Squad Cost Ratio, which has replaced Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) for the 2026/27 season in the Premier League.
Fondly remembered at the Emirates
However, he will be remembered fondly by Arsenal fans, especially as he was part of the first title-winning squad for 22 years.
Both clubs are expected to still do further business in the transfer market, with the new Premier League season now less than three weeks away from beginning.
