His numbers reflected that role. Norgaard made seven Premier League appearances, with only one start and 101 league minutes, finishing without a goal or an assist. Across all competitions, he featured 20 times, including six UEFA Champions League appearances, again ending the season with no direct goal contributions.
Everton see him as the preferred replacement for Idrissa Gueye, believing his experience, positional awareness and leadership can strengthen David Moyes’ midfield without demanding a major transfer outlay.

Replacing a 32-year-old reserve with an elite midfielder entering his prime would represent a clear upgrade. Arsenal would strengthen the first team rather than add depth, while Everton would gain a proven Premier League operator whose reading of the game remains one of his strongest qualities.
