Arsenal have seemingly kicked into life as we enter the final month of the summer transfer window. Mikel Arteta’s men faced Girona in a pre-season friendly on Saturday evening - but the focus was mainly on the club's activity off the field.
That’s because the Gunners have been closely linked with several big-name targets in recent days, including Vinicius Junior of Real Madrid. The Los Blancos superstar would represent the first genuinely marquee addition of the window for sporting director Andrea Berta, having been given the green light financially to bring in the forward.

Arsenal are reportedly eyeing three more signings this summer. The Athletic reported on Saturday that Vinicius is Arteta’s top transfer target to strengthen the attack.
An agreement between the Brazilian and Arsenal is expected to be found on personal terms if Real Madrid don’t match his demands and the forward opts not to renew at the Bernabeu. The report adds that, whether Vinicius signs or not, the north Londoners will bring in a new winger before the window shuts.
Arsenal will also seek a new midfielder, understood to be Bruno Guimaraes, after reportedly agreeing a £77m deal with Newcastle. Finally, The Athletic states a central defender is being pursued in an effort to cover the injured William Saliba in the coming months.

The transfer links with Vinicius seemingly came out of nowhere last weekend. Yet, Berta is understood to have kept an eye on the 26-year-old winger’s contract situation for some time before making his approach, having seen Vinicius enter the final year of his deal.
Now, Arsenal are reportedly considering employing a similar method in their pursuit of another forward - Barcelona’s Ferran Torres - who is also due to become a free agent next summer, as it stands.
Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo claims the Gunners have enquired about the Spain striker, who scored the decisive goal in the World Cup final last month. Barcelona want to extend Torres' contract, which is due to expire in June next year.
But negotiations are yet to produce an agreement, increasing pressure on Barcelona to cash in rather than risk losing the 26-year-old for nothing next summer. That, similarly to the Vinicius situation, plays directly into Arsenal’s hands as they can offer a lower transfer fee. Torres can play on either wing or through the middle, with his versatility making this potential signing an alluring one.
