He returned to a new contract and scored a crucial goal in a 1-1 draw with Real Madrid in the Champions League, making him the first Englishman to score at the Bernabeu for a Premier League team in over a decade
The 2012/13 season ended with Welbeck and his team-mates being crowned Premier League champions
There was a new manager at Man Utd for 2013/14, and Welbeck scored twice in Moyes' first Premier League game in charge, a 4-1 win over Swansea
Welbeck joined the England squad in Brazil in 2014 for the first of his two World Cups
After the tournament there was a change of clubs, with Welbeck joining Arsenal and making his debut in a draw with English champions Man City
At the Gunners he claimed the first hat-trick of his career, in a 4-1 Champions League win over Galatasaray
He haunted his former club Man Utd, scoring at Old Trafford to knock them out of the FA Cup, as Arsenal went on to lift the trophy
After a spell sidelined by a knee injury, Welbeck came off the bench to score an added-time winner on his first game back
Welbeck won a second FA Cup with Arsenal in 2017, this time beating Chelsea in the final
He moved on to Watford in 2019, but Covid meant there were no fans present to see his stunning overhead kick against Norwich
He signed for Brighton the next season. His first home goal there came on the limited return of fans to the stadium
He also got Brighton's first-ever goal at Stamford Bridge, to earn a late Premier League draw
The landmarks kept coming, netting twice in Brighton's record top-flight win, 6-0 against Wolves
Welbeck's 31st Premier League goal for Brighton arrived at Crystal Palace in 2025, making him the Seagulls' all-time top scorer in the top division
