**As Liverpool reportedly prepare to submit their first bid for Paris Saint-Germain star Bradley Barcola, journalist Pete O’Rourke has provided a key new update.**
The winger looks set to be the Reds’ big-name signing of the summer, assuming an agreement can be reached between the Reds and Champions League holders PSG before the end of the summer transfer window.
All things point towards Liverpool making an offer for Barcola in the coming days, as they look to bring in an elite wide man to bolster their attack under new head coach Andoni Iraola.
But speaking to [_Football Insider_](https://www.footballinsider247.com/liverpool/this-is-how-psg-will-respond-to-liverpools-first-bradley-barcola-offer), O’Rourke said he expects to see PSG reject the Reds’ advances first time around, demanding more for his signature:
_“Talks will be ongoing between Liverpool and PSG, and they’re preparing a first bid. More than likely, that will get turned down, but I’m sure there’ll be ongoing discussions between the two clubs to see if they can thrash out a deal. “And obviously if PSG bring in Magnes Akliouche from Monaco, then maybe that could free up space to allow them to let Barcola to move on.”_
**The pace and end product that Liverpool desperately need**

The potential signing of Barcola isn’t necessarily going down well with everyone currently, with [Jamie Carragher](https://live4liverpool.com/jamie-carragher-contests-the-logic-in-signing-bradley-barcola-as-mohamed-salahs-heir-at-liverpool/) raising doubts over whether he is the right-sided option that Liverpool need:
_“He plays on the opposite flank! LFC currently have three players who could play from the left in Rio/Gakpo/Wirtz and no one who plays from the right.”_
It may be that Iraola has a plan for his winger, though, either using Barcola on the right or changing Rio Ngumoha’s role, or new signing Victor Munoz’s for that matter.
When Salah joined Liverpool in 2017, some even thought he would be a backup to Sadio Mane on the right flank, only for the latter to switch to a left-sided berth.
That shows that top-level wingers have the versatility to excel on either flank, and for that reason, Barcola still feels like a fantastic addition for the Reds.
It remains to be seen how much they will have to pay PSG, though, potentially even having to make him their most expensive signing of all time.
