The summer window is stepping up another gear as Arsenal close in on the signing of Bruno Guimaraes, and have fresh hope over a club-record deal for Vinicius Junior, while Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham continue to work on blockbuster deals. The Gunners have reportedly agreed a fee worth around £80million for the Newcastle captain, who will undergo a medical on Monday. Chelsea are ready to offer Joao Pedro a contract extension.
The Athletic report that the Brazilian will be rewarded for an impressive first full season at Stamford Bridge, and having attracted interest from elsewhere.
The club are continuing their policy of securing long-term futures for key players as they look to build a squad capable of sustained success. Improved contracts have already been agreed with several senior figures in recent months.
Midfielder Moises Caicedo, captain Reece James and forward Cole Palmer are among those to have signed renewed deals on enhanced terms. Joao Pedro is now expected to be one of the next players rewarded as Chelsea continue planning for the future.
Juventus have ended their interest in Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
Fabrizio Romano reports that negotiations failed to progress because the two clubs were unable to agree on a fee, making the overall cost of the deal was beyond Juve’s budget.
Martinez had been linked with a move to Turin, but Juventus have now turned their attention to other targets. Juventus are understood to have informed Aston Villa that they will not continue discussions.
Mykhailo Mudryk will join his Chelsea team-mates in Hong Kong after the winger’s ban for doping was lifted.
The Ukrainian was handed a provisional ban in December 2024 by the Football Association for failing a drugs test, and in June 2025, he was charged with violating anti-doping rules, and a four-year ban was threatened.
That ban came into force in April of this year, lasting until 2028 to take into account the time he had already spent out of the game.
But on July 31, all charges were dropped against the forward, who is now free to play again after such a long spell out.
Arsenal’s pursuit of Vinicius Junior has been signed off at all levels of the club, who believe the Brazilian is ready to join the club.
That’s according to The Athletic, who add that everything hinges on the player’s ongoing contract talks with Real Madrid which should be resolves in the coming days.
A move could also see Vinicius become the club's marquee player, while Arsenal's approach to image rights is viewed as more favourable than Real Madrid's.
Sporting director Andrea Berta is continuing to assess alternative left-wing targets, although Vinicius is regarded as a potentially transformative signing.

Roberto De Zerbi as responded to reports that Tottenham captain Cristian Romero is close to joining Inter Milan.
Romero is expected to leave north London this summer, just a year after being handed the skipper's armband and signing a new four-year contract.
De Zerbi has previously hinted at Romero's desire to leave the club, and reports from the player's homeland of Argentina overnight claimed a bid worth around £34million has been accepted by Spurs.
But De Zerbi insists he has no knowledge of transfer talks, but did speak to Romero on Friday regarding his return to Spurs for pre-season.
Manchester United are assessing a potential move for Newcastle United left-back Lewis Hall.
The 21-year-old is viewed as a long-term successor to Luke Shaw, whose contract expires next year.
United have started exploring the likely cost of a deal, according to Sky Sports, although Hall is expected to command a significant fee and Newcastle have no intention of selling.
With three years remaining on his contract, Hall remains under strong control at St James’ Park. United are also weighing reinforcements in midfield and attack, while Shaw is currently their only senior left-back following Tyrell Malacia’s exit.
