Chelsea’s work in the transfer window is showing no signs of slowing down with the Blues expected to dip back into the market for more signings, and the latest potential target is Francisco Conceicao.

On Saturday, Chelsea announced the fourth signing of Xabi Alonso’s era in Danny Welbeck. With four signings pre-arranged including Emmanuel Emegha and Geovany Quenda, spending has reached £300m.

But the Blues are not stopping there. Valentin Barco and Jordan Henderson are expected to arrive as new signings in due course, with Henderson expected to sign a two-year deal and Barco set to cost £34m.

However, more signings are likely and one player that could arrive could be Juventus winger Francisco Conceicao. But a deal would not be a conventional one, if reports in Italy this weekend are to be believed.

Portugal international Conceicao has spent the last two seasons at Juventus, clocking up 82 appearances and having a hand in a measly 22 goals. But it is Conceicao’s speed and dribbling that catch the eye.

One of Juventus’ most-effective attacking players, Conceicao has caught the eye among Europe’s best clubs and now, Gazzetta Dello Sport say Chelsea are among the clubs eyeing the former Porto winger.

But it is reported that a potential swap deal could materialise. Benoit Badiashile is expected to complete a loan move to Napoli with an option, a deal that could see Chelsea earn the best part of £20m next year.

However, Napoli are stalling on confirmation as they look to sell a player or two first and that has seen Juventus enter the fray for Badiashile. The report claims Chelsea and Juventus could arrange a swap deal.

Conceicao could replace his Portugal teammate at Chelsea

As things stand, a new winger is hardly going to be a priority for Chelsea. This summer, Chelsea have added Rogers and Quenda, while Estevao is fit again and Jamie Gittens is starring during pre-season.

Dastan Satpayev has also caught the eye during pre-season, with Pedro Neto set to return to pre-season training in the next few days. But Neto might not be a Chelsea player for much longer, this summer.

Indeed, the former Wolves man has emerged as a £70m target for Man City and at that price, Chelsea simply cannot refuse a sale. If Neto is sold, then perhaps there is room for the signing of Conceicao.

But even with the sale of Neto, Chelsea have five options on the flanks. Without European football, it is hardly a necessity. Conceicao is a top player, but Alonso hardly needs to add another player like him.
