Arsenal urged to hijack Liverpool move for £145m winger
Arsenal have been urged to challenge Liverpool for Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his title-winning squad.
Former Gunner Emmanuel Frimpong believes a Bradley Barcola to Arsenal move alongside Bruno Guimaraes would represent an excellent summer for the Premier League champions.
Frimpong told Ladbrokes, via the Liverpool Echo report, that Arsenal should continue strengthening despite ending their wait for the Premier League title last season.
“For me, when it comes to realistic signings this summer, with those positions in mind, I feel like Bruno Guimaraes is someone I’d love to see at Arsenal,” he said.
“And also Bradley Barcola… I think he would be very good for Arsenal.”

Bradley Barcola to Arsenal remains difficult with Liverpool pushing
Frimpong’s comments arrive as Arsenal move closer to completing a major midfield addition.
ReadArsenal reported on Saturday that Arsenal have agreed a deal worth up to £80million for Bruno Guimaraes, with the Newcastle captain expected to undergo a medical before signing a five-year contract.
Attention could therefore increasingly turn towards Arteta’s attacking options.
Barcola has been monitored by Arsenal during the summer, but Liverpool currently appear more advanced in their pursuit. The Reds are preparing to move for the France international after identifying him as a leading option to replace Mohamed Salah.
PSG reportedly value Barcola at around £145m, making any deal significantly more expensive than the Guimaraes transfer.
The 23-year-old has two years remaining on his contract and is understood to be open to considering a Premier League move.
Arsenal have already signed Christos Tzolis to strengthen the left flank, while Vinicius Junior has also emerged as an ambitious target.
Frimpong clearly believes another elite winger should still be pursued.
Whether Arsenal share that view strongly enough to challenge Liverpool for Barcola remains to be seen.
