The 23-year-old has gone on four loan spells since joining Liverpool in 2022.
Calvin Ramsay has endured a challenging four years since arriving at Liverpool from Aberdeen, but the Scottish defender has been handed a fresh opportunity to impress following Andoni Iraola’s arrival at Anfield.
After seeing his progress repeatedly disrupted by injuries and a succession of loan moves, Ramsay has been involved with Liverpool’s first-team squad throughout pre-season.

The 23-year-old is now working under a new head coach whose high-intensity philosophy appears well suited to his strengths as an attacking right-back.
Speaking in a recent interview with Liverpool, Ramsay admitted he has enjoyed adapting to Iraola’s demanding methods during the opening weeks of pre-season.
“I’ve enjoyed it. It’s really intense and he wants us constantly pressing and being aggressive and being able to defend and attack. It’s been good – I’ve enjoyed it. It’s obviously only been a few weeks so hopefully I can stay here for a little bit longer and keep working with him and keep learning and get better.”
That final comment offers the clearest indication yet that Ramsay wants to remain at Liverpool rather than head out on loan once again.
After four temporary spells away from Anfield, Ramsay is hoping to convince Iraola that he deserves a place in his plans for the new season.
Since signing from Aberdeen in 2022, Ramsay has spent time at Preston North End, Bolton Wanderers, Wigan Athletic and Kilmarnock.
None of those moves provided the sustained run of games he needed, with injuries proving particularly disruptive during his spells at Preston and Bolton before further loan moves failed to reignite his Liverpool career.
Last season only added to the frustration.
Despite Liverpool enduring a genuine crisis at right-back, former head coach Arne Slot showed little faith in Ramsay.
Injuries left the Reds short of natural options on several occasions, yet Slot repeatedly turned to midfielders and other makeshift solutions instead of giving Ramsay a meaningful opportunity to prove himself.
Now, however, Ramsay has a clean slate under Iraola.
The Spaniard’s aggressive pressing system appears to have already made a positive impression on the defender, who is embracing the demands of pre-season and hoping his patience will finally be rewarded.
After years of setbacks, Ramsay believes his future should be fought for at Liverpool rather than elsewhere.
