Chelsea summer transfers 2026 have already reshaped Xabi Alonso’s squad, with Morgan Rogers, Maxence Lacroix, Marco Palestra and Danny Welbeck among the new arrivals at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues have also sanctioned several significant departures, including Marc Cucurella, Andrey Santos and Alejandro Garnacho.
Chelsea entered Alonso’s first summer needing to balance another squad rebuild with a desire to add more immediate Premier League quality.
The result has been a mixture of record investment, experienced additions and previously agreed transfers finally joining the first-team group.

Here is every significant Chelsea incoming, permanent departure and loan move completed as of 2 August 2026.
Marco Palestra – Atalanta, £43m
Palestra became Alonso’s first new signing when Chelsea completed a £43million deal with Atalanta on 1 July.
The 21-year-old Italy international has signed until 2033 after impressing during a loan spell at Cagliari. His ability to operate on either flank gives Alonso another natural wing-back option.
Geovany Quenda – Sporting CP, £43.5m
Quenda’s transfer was agreed in March 2025 but officially went through this summer.
The Portugal winger has signed until 2034 and arrives with significant senior experience despite being only 19.
Chelsea have described him as capable of playing in advanced wide positions or at wing-back, which should make him particularly useful within Alonso’s flexible system.
Emegha is another player whose move was arranged before this transfer window.
Chelsea agreed his transfer from Strasbourg in September 2025, with the striker officially joining in 2026. He scored 14 Ligue 1 goals during the season before Chelsea secured the agreement.
Rogers represents Chelsea’s headline investment of the summer.
The England international completed a British-record £117million move from Aston Villa and signed until 2033.

Rogers can operate from the left, centrally behind a striker or deeper in midfield. Alonso has already indicated that he expects Rogers and Cole Palmer to complement each other in Chelsea’s attack.
Chelsea addressed their centre-back search by signing Lacroix from Crystal Palace.
Sky Sports lists the fee at around £51million, with the France international arriving after two impressive Premier League seasons at Selhurst Park.
The move gives Alonso a defender with pace, physical strength and experience defending large spaces.
ReadChelsea followed the deal through its closing stages after Lacroix emerged as Chelsea’s priority defensive target.
Welbeck represents the clearest departure from Chelsea’s usual recruitment profile.
The 35-year-old completed his move from Brighton on a two-year deal after producing a career-best Premier League goalscoring season.
Chelsea were attracted not only by his performances but also by his experience and leadership within a young dressing room. Reuters confirmed the transfer on 1 August.
ReadChelsea had previously detailed why Alonso wanted Welbeck as the club explored adding a senior figure to its forward line.
Chelsea’s wider 2026 incoming list also includes Dastan Satpaev from Kairat Almaty for around £2.1m and Denner from Corinthians for around £8.7m, according to Sky Sports’ Premier League transfer tracker.
Satpaev has already trained and played with Alonso’s first-team group during pre-season.
Chelsea have continued strengthening the development squad alongside their senior recruitment.
The club’s official tracker confirms that 18-year-old attacking midfielder Harrison Bettoni has joined from Wigan Athletic on a contract until 2030.
Chelsea have also generated considerable income while reducing a squad which remained too large when Alonso arrived.
Cucurella completed a permanent transfer to Real Madrid after four seasons at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea confirmed the departure, while Sky Sports lists the deal at approximately £51.8million.
His exit created an immediate vacancy at left-back and prompted Chelsea’s prolonged pursuit of Pep Chavarría.

Santos joined Manchester United after Chelsea accepted a package worth £48m plus £2m in add-ons.
The Brazil international left having made 47 senior appearances for Chelsea.

George’s loan spell at Everton became permanent this summer.
The Cobham graduate leaves after making 37 senior appearances for Chelsea, with Sky Sports recording the deal at around £24million.
Jimmy-Jay Morgan – West Brom, £4m
Morgan has completed a permanent move to Championship side West Bromwich Albion.
Sky Sports lists the fee at around £4million, while Chelsea’s official tracker confirms the academy forward has left after returning to the club in 2023.
Chelsea have also confirmed several other exits across the development pathway.
Frankie Runham has joined Ipswich Town permanently, while Chris Atherton has also moved to Portman Road. Joseph Wheeler-Henry has completed a permanent switch to Brentford after spending part of last season there on loan.
Jimi Tauriainen has left for Horsens, while Brodi Hughes, Richard Olise and Sam Rak-Sakyi have all departed following the expiry of their Chelsea spells. Sky Sports also lists goalkeeper James Hillson among the released players.
Chelsea loans out for 2026/27
One of Chelsea’s major priorities remains finding suitable senior minutes for players who are not guaranteed regular football under Alonso.
Garnacho has joined Aston Villa after just one season at Chelsea.
The initial deal is a loan, although it contains a conditional obligation which could turn his departure into a permanent transfer.
ReadChelsea reported that Villa and Chelsea had finalised the Garnacho agreement after Emery personally pushed to add the Argentina international following Morgan Rogers’ move in the opposite direction.
Derry signed a new Chelsea contract until 2032 before joining Sporting for the entire season.
There is no option to buy, so Chelsea retain complete control over the winger’s future.

Goalkeeper Max Merrick will spend the season with Hartlepool United.
ReadChelsea reported Chelsea’s confirmation of the season-long loan as the 20-year-old seeks regular senior football after spending time around the first-team squad.
Murray-Campbell has joined Belgian club KV Kortrijk for the season.
The defender made his Chelsea senior debut during the club’s Conference League-winning campaign and will now gain regular first-team experience abroad.
Wilson has moved to newly-promoted League Two side Rochdale for his first senior loan.
Chelsea’s official tracker confirms he will spend the 2026/27 campaign there as another academy player enters senior football.
Chelsea’s transfer window is not finished.
Pep Chavarría is currently the closest major incoming deal. Matteo Moretto reported on 2 August that Chelsea have reached an agreement with Rayo Vallecano worth around €25million including bonuses, with the left-back already in London.
However, the transfer has not yet been announced by Chelsea, so Chavarría should not be included among the completed signings until the final paperwork and club announcement arrive.
There could also be further movement out of Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are exploring loans for several academy prospects. Reggie Walsh has attracted Championship and League One interest, while Portsmouth are in advanced discussions over Ryan Kavuma-McQueen.
Alonso may also need to make further senior decisions before the window closes.
Chelsea have invested heavily again, but they have also received major fees for Cucurella, Santos and George. The combination of Premier League-ready additions, experienced players and carefully managed young talent makes this a noticeably different summer from some of the earlier BlueCo windows.
With almost a month of the transfer window remaining, Chelsea’s 2026 squad rebuild is not complete yet.
