Liverpool fans will absolutely love Andoni Iraola’s comments on Victor Munoz
Before he signed for the club, it’s safe to say not too many Liverpool fans were aware of Victor Munoz.
The Spaniard was locked in talks to sign for Newcastle United during the 2026 FIFA World Cup but opted for a move to Anfield after the Reds’ eleventh-hour hijack.
Munoz didn’t feature at all for Spain but will arrive at the AXA Training Centre later this week as a World Cup winner as he prepares to meet the rest of his teammates.
He will obviously not be available against Leeds United later today. However, Andoni Iraola spoke about his newest recruit, adding that he decided to cut his holiday short to start work ahead of the new season.
Victor Munoz cuts holiday short to join Liverpool pre-season
Munoz is capable of playing on both flanks and has devastating pace to burn, making him an intriguing addition to Liverpool’s attack.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of the game against Leeds, Iraola claimed that Munoz has already cut his holidays short and will be with the rest of his teammates next week.
“He comes next week. We spoke to him, and he also wanted to come a little bit earlier than the three weeks that they have the right to have, because obviously he is coming to a new club.
Victor Munoz will start pre-season with LFC at the AXA next week after opting to cut short the time off he was granted post World Cup. Alisson will also be back.
Alexis Mac Allister will be the last to return on August 9.

“He will need some time to adapt, to meet his teammates. We will have him next week as soon as we arrive there, basically. It’s also good news.”
Liverpool fans haven’t watched the Spanish speedster in action, but he has already spoken highly about the club and has shown the desire to succeed.
Munoz already has the fans on his side, and hopefully the Anfield faithful can witness his brilliance in the coming weeks.
