Arsenal submit €75m bid for ‘fantastic’ Liverpool transfer target

Liverpool’s defensive options are wafer-thin at the moment due to injuries.

Jeremy Jacquet is still working his way up to full fitness, while Giovanni Leoni and Joe Gomez are injured.

Virgil van Dijk is back in pre-season training and is the club’s only fit senior defender, with Ifenyi Ndukwe and Luke Chambers starting at the heart of the backline vs Leeds United.

Earlier today, Sky Sports confirmed that Liverpool will not buy a central defender this summer, a report that drew significant backlash on social media.

And now, reports from Spain (don’t ask us how or why – we are as surprised as you are) claim Arsenal have made a bid for Liverpool target Ezri Konsa.

Arsenal submit huge offer for Liverpool-linked Ezri Konsa

Last month, we reported on Read Liverpool that Konsa is a target for Liverpool after his exploits for England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Arsenal have also been linked with the Aston Villa defender, especially with William Saliba set to miss a large chunk of the season due to a back injury.

And now, Estadio Deportivo report that the Gunners have submitted their first offer for Konsa, which is believed to be in the region of €75m.

We have no idea how a publication from Spain have information about an Aston Villa player potentially moving to Arsenal or Liverpool, or how they have beaten the traditional English media to the news.

All we’ll say at this point is to take this information with a pinch of salt.

That said, if Liverpool decide to sign one defender this summer, they can’t find anyone better than Konsa.

He knows the Premier League well and has shown his class for club and country, while he is also capable of filling in at right-back, which is another problematic position for the Reds.

Unai Emery previously referred to Konsa as a fantastic player (via Mirror) and won’t part with his prized asset without a fight, especially after losing Morgan Rogers and Youri Tielemans.
