Leeds United defender Gabriel Gudmundsson was forced off with an injury during Sunday night’s pre-season friendly meeting with Liverpool.
Gudmundsson started his second friendly of the summer at Soldier Field in Chicago but was forced off in the first-half. The left wing-back came off worse after a nasty collision with Florian Wirtz earlier in the game and required medical attention.
An awkward fall looked to have winded the Leeds defender but he came on and continued to play. But an issue cropped up later in the half as Gudmundsson went back down while Liverpool were preparing to take a free-kick.
Gudmundsson appeared to be rubbing an area around the small of his back or hamstring as the club’s physio team came back onto the pitch. He was eventually replaced by Sebastiaan Bornauw.
Leeds were 1-0 down at the time through Luke Chambers and conceded not a second through Florian Wirtz not long after Gudmundsson’s removal. He now has the best part of a week to get assessed before the next pre-season friendly against RB Leipzig on Saturday August 8.
