The 2026 summer transfer window has been very quiet for Liverpool so far, but nothing would bring the spark back quite like a shock announcement that Salah will return to the club for the 2026/27 Premier League season.
He spent nine years on Merseyside, so a return would not only offer Andoni Iraola some continuity in his first season in charge but also make it 10 years at the club for the Egyptian.
His £485,000 per week Liverpool contract (£25m/year) technically has another year remaining on it too…

As things stand, these are Liverpool’s attacking options for the season ahead:
* Alexander Isak
* Hugo Ekitike (injured)
* Cody Gakpo
* Victor Munoz
* Rio Ngumoha
Of these options, only Munoz has extensive experience playing on the right flank, and even then, he still needs time to adjust to the Premier League.
Signing Salah would save the club money on a transfer fee this summer for a player who may or may not hit the ground running. Even if Salah has another season like last, who would say no to a new right winger with 12 goals and 10 assists?
I know that’s not quite worth £485,000 per week, but given that last season was an outlier in Salah’s Liverpool career, I would be willing to bet that he would greatly outperform those numbers – especially under a manager like Iraola, who would no doubt get him into the positions Arne Slot failed to in his second season in charge.

An attacking trio of Barcola, Isak and Salah would be truly memorable even if it lasted for a single season.
It’s incredibly unlikely that it happens, even if Barcola does seem as though he is destined to make the move to Anfield this summer.
