Liverpool have been told to solve their ongoing right-back worries by making a move to bring Trent Alexander-Arnold back to the club. The academy graduate made a controversial move to Real Madrid just over a year ago.
Despite him being out of contract at Anfield last summer, Liverpool did receive a fee of around £10 million, with Real Madrid paying to complete the move in time for last summer's Club World Cup. But Alexander-Arnold has stuggled to establish himself as first choice at the Bernabeu with both injuries disrupting his first season.
The 27-year-old could have the chance to cement his place in the Real Madrid team this summer, with the arrival of new manager Jose Mourinho. He started the 2-2 pre-season friendly draw against Fiorentina on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Liverpool were lacking precisely what the academy product provided, which included consistent availability at right-back alongside quality on the ball through both his progressive passing from deep and his crosses from wide positions.
These problems have continued into this summer, with the Reds still to bring in another defensive reinforcement on the right side for new manager Andoni Iraola, leaving his choices limited with a still-injured Conor Bradley and an unpredictable Jeremie Frimpong.
Taking into account the difficulties faced by both sides, TalkSPORT pundit Angelina Kelly suggests that a comeback for Alexander-Arnold should be considered. She claimed: "I know what it's like for a player to, in your opinion, betray the club – especially one of your own, especially being a Liverpudlian. I get it.
"When Real Madrid come calling, it is hard to say no – we have to be honest with that – and he's made the move and it hasn't really worked out.
"And you look at Liverpool, and you think, do they need a new right-back? I mean, [Jeremie] Frimpong didn't look great last season – I think he's probably better playing further forward – [Conor] Bradley injured.

"I think maybe they should cut their losses and just explore the Trent situation. I'm not saying you've got to sign him immediately – let's just explore this. Because Real Madrid have signed another right-back in Denzel Dumfries – that is not good news for Trent.
"So, why can't everyone just take some ownership...take a bit of accountability, and we can all come back together and be happy?".
While it might be seen as a potential option, it would probably be far too early for those bridges to be rebuilt between Alexander-Arnold and the Liverpool supporters.
After only 12 months away, there could still be lingering resentment over how the transfer unfolded, with a return to Merseyside perhaps appearing driven by practicality rather than a genuine commitment to progress with the club. For the time being, there's no indication that the Real Madrid chapter will draw to a close.
While Denzel Dumfries has been brought in, Alexander-Arnold was selected at right-back ahead of his rival for the draw against Fiorentina.
Under Mourinho's stewardship, the defender might have an opportunity to string together a sequence of matches and rediscover the form that's been notably absent throughout the past 12 months. If that fails to materialise, then further doubts may emerge regarding his long-term prospects.
