Liverpool have no plans to part ways with Cody Gakpo this summer unless a “huge” offer arrives, with Tottenham reportedly ready to step up their interest.
The 27-year-old has been linked with Tottenham for much of the summer, with suggestions Liverpool would sell at the right price, reported to be upwards of £60 million.
Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano stated on Monday that Tottenham “plan to step up their efforts” to sign Gakpo after making contact with the player’s representatives.
Spurs want Liverpool’s No. 18 in addition to Man City‘s Savinho as they continue to make moves in the transfer window to avoid another relegation-threatened season.

Romano adds that “Liverpool are not pushing Gakpo out,” which has been reiterated throughout the summer, and would only be drawn to the table with a strong financial proposal.
In response, the Mail‘s Simon Jones insists the Reds have “no plans” to sell their forward despite Spurs “making their interest known.”
This, however, is also caveated by “a huge sum” being needed to change Liverpool’s stance, which goes back to being open to a deal at the right price.
Liverpool are currently pursuing a deal for Bradley Barcola, but will know they need depth beyond the Frenchman in attack.

Simply allowing Gakpo to leave would dent Andoni Iraola‘s options further, but if funds could be reinvested this window it would be something for the club to consider.
Effectively, the ball is in Tottenham‘s court as Liverpool will not entertain any offer below their valuation of the 27-year-old, as is the case with Inter Milan’s pursuit of Curtis Jones.
Liverpool have added only Victor Munoz to the forward line so far, and with Hugo Ekitike not expected to return until 2027, the Reds cannot afford to leave themselves short as they did last season.
Gakpo is contracted until 2030 and reported back for pre-season at the AXA Training Centre last week alongside Virgil van Dijk.
