There has been plenty of change on both sides during the summer, with recruitment and tactical adjustments dominating the headlines as preparations continue.

Newcastle Unite have been relatively active in strengthening key areas of their squad, while Liverpool have also overseen changes as they look to build momentum ahead of the new campaign.

One of Newcastle’s latest additions is goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek, with the Magpies officially announcing the arrival of the Czech Republic international on a five year deal from SC Braga.

According to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie, Newcastle activated the player’s £25.7 million release clause last week before he travelled to La Manga to join his new teammates having completed his medical in Spain.

The 24-year-old is expected to provide fresh competition between the posts following a summer that has seen Newcastle reshape several areas of the squad.

Alongside changes in personnel on the pitch, the Magpies have also entered a new era off it following Eddie Howe’s departure.

Liverpool have likewise experienced a transformative summer, with Andoni Iraola beginning life at Anfield as the Reds prepare for the season ahead.

Expectations remain high after an encouraging pre-season, but the trip to Newcastle United represents an immediate test against an opponent that has also undergone significant change.

With Hornicek now being Newcastle’s latest addition, the Magpies continue to strengthen before welcoming Liverpool later this month, adding another intriguing subplot to one of the most eye-catching fixtures of the Premier League’s opening weekend.

Newcastle United are delighted to announce the signing of Czech Republic international goalkeeper Lukáš Horníček from Portuguese side SC Braga.

The 24-year-old joins for an undisclosed fee and has penned a five-year-deal at St. James’ Park.
