Newcastle United have rejected an offer from Arsenal for Bruno Guimaraes
Newcastle United have rejected a formal offer for Bruno Guimaraes from Arsenal - after the Gunners finally made direct contact.
The Gunners' original valuation for Bruno was around £70m, with sources at the Emirates Stadium insisting over the weekend that they would not go too far beyond that figure.
Bruno is en route to the club's La Manga training base with Newcastle insisting he has broken no rules, and was always scheduled to meet on Monday.

He departed Brazil via a commercial flight on Sunday and is now expected to meet up with his team-mates.
Newcastle have not made it clear how much they would consider for Bruno but sold Sandro Tonali for £100m earlier this summer.
As reported by Chronicle Live at the weekend, Bruno was scheduled to meet Toon officials and crucially new boss Jaissle.
The Brazilian's future has been the subject of much speculation over the summer. Newcastle are keen to hold on to their captain, and have already banked almost £175m from the summer sales of Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali.
Newcastle sources insist a 'suitable bid' for the player has yet to arrive, despite Arsenal intensifying their interest in Guimaraes. They value the midfielder at around £70m with Newcastle believed to be looking for more than £80m for a player with two years left on his contract, plus an year's option.
