Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the United States ended on a disappointing note on Sunday as Andoni Iraola’s side suffered a 4-2 defeat to Leeds United in Chicago.
The result mattered less than the performance at this stage of the summer, but it still exposed areas Liverpool will want to tighten before competitive football returns later this month.

The Reds now head home to continue preparations with friendlies against Monaco and Como at Anfield, giving Iraola further opportunities to assess his squad ahead of the new Premier League season.
While attention remains fixed on potential arrivals and departures before the transfer window closes, several former Liverpool players are also taking the next steps in their careers.
One of those is former academy graduate and winger Sheyi Ojo, who has secured a new club after leaving Slovenian side Maribor earlier this summer.
Kazakhstan Premier League outfit FC Aktobe have officially announced the signing of Ojo as a free agent after his contract with Maribor expired. The 29-year-old had been without a club since July 1 following the end of his stay in Slovenia.
The move marks the latest chapter in a career that has taken Ojo across Europe since leaving Liverpool.
After joining Maribor on a free transfer in September 2024, he spent two seasons with the Slovenian club before becoming a free agent at the end of the 2025-26 campaign.
Ojo was regarded as one of Liverpool’s brightest academy prospects after joining the club from Milton Keynes Dons as a youngster. He made his senior debut under Brendan Rodgers and went on to feature for the first team before embarking on a series of loan spells to gain regular experience.
During his time as a Liverpool player, Sheyi Ojo represented clubs including Wigan Athletic, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Fulham, Stade de Reims, Rangers, Cardiff City and Kortrijk on loan before eventually leaving Anfield on a permanent basis.
Those moves gave him experience across England, France, Scotland and Belgium before his switch to Slovenia.
His latest move now takes him to Kazakhstan, and the club will hope his experience across several European leagues can strengthen their attacking options during the second half of the season.
