Fans have been instantly impressed by Alejandro Garnacho as the new Aston Villa arrival adjusts to life in the Midlands. Garnacho joined Unai Emery's side on a season-long loan from Chelsea, with a permanent move to follow in 2027 if conditions are met.
The Argentina international made his Villa debut over the weekend, playing 45 minutes in a victory over an Indonesia All Stars XI in Jakarta. His new side have now shared clips of the 22-year-old being put through his paces in training, taking part in drills both with and without the ball.
A number of fans clearly liked what they saw from the Chelsea loanee. "This guy will be a great signing" wrote one, with another saying they were "Really rooting for the boy after seeing what all has been said about him".
A third hoped another Argentina international, Emi Buendia might take his compatriot under his wing. "[I'm going to] need Buendia to be his sensei and guide this young one to greatness at Villa Park," they said.
Garnacho joined Villa on loan just days after Morgan Rogers left the club for Chelsea in a club record £117m move. He is one of three senior additions to Emery's squad, after Johan Manzambi and Joao Gomes joined from Freiburg and Wolves respectively.
"We are delighted with Alejandro," Villa boss Emery said when the winger joined. "He is so talented, young and he showed us his wish to help our project. We are really happy."
The new arrival will have more opportunities to show Villa what he can do as they take on BG Pathum United in Thailand, Bayern Munich in Hong Kong and Borussia Monchengladbach in Germany in their final three pre-season friendlies. Emery's team begin their league campaign away to Brighton on August 23.
"See you soon Bangkok! First start after three months. Happy to be enjoying football again. One per cent every day. Thanks Indonesia," Garnacho wrote on Instagram after making his debut for his new club.
The comments were seen by some as a dig at Chelsea for using him sparingly at the tail end of last season. His last Blues start came in the FA Cup semi-final victory over Leeds in April and he was restricted to a late cameo in the cup final defeat to Manchester City at Wembley.
The former Manchester United talent had only joined Chelsea the previous summer in a £40m move. He scored eight goals for the London club but only one of those came in the league, in a defeat to Sunderland in October 2025.
