One of the biggest transfer stories of the summer surrounds Rodri and his future at City.
The midfielder has one year remaining on his contract and explained during the World Cup that he would decide his future after the tournament.
Since then, Rodri has guided Spain to World Cup glory and won the tournament's Golden Ball in the process.
Following the World Cup, Rodri underwent a minor operation on his back and he is now recovering ahead of his return to City.
When asked about the midfielder's future, Enzo Maresca has said the 30-year-old will remain at the Etihad Stadium. He also insists he wants to keep Rodri. Read the full story here.
MEN Sport recently asked our readers the question: 'What should Man City do if Rodri asks to leave for Real Madrid?'
At the time of writing, 1,350 supporters have voted, with 63 per cent opting for the pragmatic choice, 'Keep both options open - demand a high price from Real and keep him if they don't meet it'.
This was followed by 23 per cent who voted for 'Make sure he goes - we can't afford to keep a player who wants to leave'. Only 16 per cent opted for 'Make him stay - I'd rather lose him for free next summer and get one more year out of him'.
Rodri will join up with the City camp after his post-World Cup break.
