Coventry City continue to be linked with several players as the transfer window hots up with just a month left to get deals done.

The Sky Blues are understood to be close to completing the signing of Carl Rushworth after a reported initial £22.5m deal has been agreed with Brighton, while there’s been much excitement amid reported interest in bringing fan favourite Gustavo Hamer back to the CBS Arena.

Here’s a round-up of the latest reports, rumours and gossip relating to potential new signings and out-goings to Frank Lampard’s squad.

Tim Iroegbunam

TEAMtalk’s Everton transfer correspondent Harry Watkinson is claiming that the Sky Blues, along with fellow promoted sides Ipswich and Hull, are interested in the defensive midfielder.

He writes on social media platform X: “Everton midfielder Tim Iroegbunam is the subject of growing interest.

“Hull City, Ipswich Town and Coventry City are all in the race, as well as two Italian teams. #EFC not actively looking to sell but will listen to offers.”

The 23-year-old former England youth players is a 6ft tall holding midfielder who started his career at West Brom.

Born in Great Barr, he switched to Aston Villa for an undisclosed fee in 2021 and went on to feature in 12 Premier League games for Villa.

He had a season in the Championship on loan at QPR in 2022/23 before joining Everton for a reported fee of £9m in June 2024, going on to make 47 top flight appearances, including 29 last term. Of those 47 appearances, 22 have been from the start and 25 from the bench.

Sidiki Cherif

According to well connected Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, who has 2.3m followers on X, the Sky Blues are monitoring 19-year-old Fenerbahce striker Sidiki Chérif.

Claiming to report an ‘Exclusive’, he writes: “Ipswich Town and Coventry City are keeping tabs on the situation of Sidiki Chérif, who wears a Fenerbahçe jersey!”

A leggy 6ft 2ins tall centre-forward, Chérif started out at French Ligue 1 side Angers, he signed for Fenerbahce in January for a reported 25m Euros with an obligation to join on a permanent deal this summer.

Mykhailo Mudryk

Coventry City are reported to have contacted Chelsea to ask about the availability of left winger Mykhailo Mudryk who appears to face an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge.

The 25-year-old is already known to Frank Lampard, having made eight appearances under him during his second stint as Blues boss, but the player hasn’t played since December 2024, having been found to have tested positive for meldonium, a prohibited substance since 2016, in October that year.

A Ukrainian international with 28 caps and three goals for his country, Mudryk is free to play football again after the FA and World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) resolved their disciplinary process against him following an appeal, with his four year ban ending early.

The player, who signed for Chelsea for a whopping £62million from Shakhtar Donetsk on an eight-and-a-half-year contract in 2023, has joined Xabi Alonso‘s squad in Hong Kong for their pre-season tour.

The Sun reports that while Alonso is “excited” to have the chance to work with Mudryk, who he called a “special player”, no final decision has been made on whether the winger will stay with the club or not.

Out-goings

Jahnoah Markelo

In terms of out-goings, Markelo was not involved in Saturday’s behind-closed-doors friendly at Leicester which further fuelled speculation that he’s set to leave the Sky Blues. Having been strongly linked with interest from Rangers last week, UAEkick, which has over 86k followers on X, have linked him with a move to Egypt, posting: “Al-Ahly’s youth team nears finalizing the deal to sign Surinamese winger Jahnoah Markelo (23), Coventry City player, in preparation for registering him in the residents’ category.”

It adds that his market value is 3.5m euros, and that there had been “strong efforts” from Scottish club Rangers to sign him.

The winger only signed for Coventry last January from FC Zurich but has barely featured for Frank Lampard’s side.
