Romano Reveals What The“Player’s Entourage”Have Told Him After Man Utd Are Linked With£34M Transfer

Man Utd have not made any move for Juventus winger Francisco Conceicao, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Reports in Italy have claimed that both the Red Devils and Liverpool have made enquiries for the Portuguese international, but after speaking with the player’s entourage (as well as insiders at both clubs), Romano said there is no truth to the speculation:

“We have received many questions in recent days on one player, Francisco Conceicao,” he said. “Why? Because someone has been talking about Manchester United regarding Conceicao. Guys, I have absolutely no confirmation of that, not even a single phone call. And not because Conceicao isn’t a Manchester United calibre player, quite the contrary, but because Manchester United is arguably better positioned in that role than anywhere else on the team.”

“There is Mbeumo, who is doing very well. Last year, he was an exceptional signing. There is Amad Diallo, who is a very important player for United, and that position is absolutely perfect for him.”

“As of today, I don’t see Manchester United working on Francisco Conceicao. There are denials from everyone, the player’s entourage, United, Juve and, so, I don’t know where this story about Conceicao and Manchester United came from.”

Man Utd don’t need a right winger

Romano is absolutely correct to point out that manager Michael Carrick is well stocked on the right flank. Conceicao is not a player who is needed.

From the sound of things, it appears as if Juve (via his agent Jorge Mendes) have been offering the 23-year-old as they look to raise funds.

After failing to secure Champions League qualification, the Bianconeri are short of cash (especially after paying €38m up front for Randal Kolo Muani). They are reportedly willing to sell Conceicao for €40m (£34m).

Who could be targeted instead of Conceicao?

If United do enter the market for a winger before the transfer window closes, it is believed that they will pursue someone like Matias Fernandez-Pardo.

The Belgian international has reportedly asked to leave Lille, but club president Olivier Letang insists he won’t sell the player this summer.
