Como have reached a verbal agreement with Chelsea to purchase Trevoh Chalobah. It's understood the Blues have agreed to sell him to Cesc Fabregas' side for around £25.7million.
It's understood Chalobah had agreed personal terms with the Serie A heavyweights several weeks ago. Because Chalobah came through the Chelsea academy system, this transfer will go down as 'pure-profit' given there was no transfer fee when he joined the club.
This gives Xabi Alonso and the club's transfer team a sizeable £25.7m boost when it comes to Financial Fair Play restrictions (FFP). This could then be put towards more transfer additions this summer, which will certainly help Alonso bulk up his new team.
Moreover, it also helps Alonso condense the number of central defenders he has within his ranks. While on pre-season with the Blues, the Spaniard recently said he only wants to have "four-or-five" central defenders to call upon.
At present, Alonso can call upon Levi Colwill, Josh Acheampong, Wesley Fofana, Benoit Badiashile, Tosin Adarabioyo, Mamadou Sarr, Aaron Anselmino, Jorrel Hato (who can also operate at left-back) and recent £52m arrival Maxence Lacroix.
Reece James has also operated as a right-central-defender in a back three in the past, while Axel Disasi remains a Chelsea player having spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham United.

Chalobah has been linked with an exit from Chelsea for several transfer windows. His time at the club appeared to be over at the start of the 2024-25 season, when he was loaned to Crystal Palace.
He was then recalled the following January after an injury crisis struck the backline of the west Londoners. Last season, he made 47 appearances in all competitions and even earned a place in Thomas Tuchel's World Cup squad when he was called up as a late replacement for the injured Tino Livramento.
However, he now looks set to depart Stamford Bridge after 11 years in west London and having represented Chelsea at youth, U18s and U23 level. Chelsea did not make it easy for Como, as they rejected two previous bids for his services.

In total, Chalobah will depart the club having made 151 appearances, contributing eight goals and three assists during his time in the senior team at Stamford Bridge. As well as Chalobah, Badiashile and Disasi are also expected to depart the club at some point this summer.
The future is also uncertain for Sarr, Anselmino and Tosin. Chelsea have added Marco Palestra and Lacroix to their backline as well as Argentinian international Valentin Barco, who can play as a left-back or as a central midfielder.
