He subsequently added:”Barcola wants Liverpool, as exclusively revealed since May.”
Having monitored the winger throughout the spring and early summer, Liverpool have now formally stepped up their interest by engaging directly with PSG officials.
While an official formal offer has yet to be accepted by the Ligue 1 champions, the initiation of direct contact represents a vital breakthrough in a pursuit that had previously been conducted at arm’s length.
Further dialogue is scheduled throughout the week, though Liverpool are prepared for drawn-out discussions given the financial scale of the operation.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano detailed the trajectory of the negotiations and confirmed that further discussions are already scheduled.

Yan Diomande had previously been Liverpool’s top target to improve in the wide areas, but the RB Leipzig winger is now set to sign for La Liga giants Real Madrid. Following that development, Liverpool turned their full attention to focus on doing a deal to sign Barcola from PSG, with the France international in high demand this summer.
Romano urged caution regarding the overall timeline, warning supporters that negotiations with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and the French champions’ hierarchy rarely conclude overnight.
“My feeling: this is not going to be something imminent, so I don’t expect that he will go on Monday or on Tuesday. There is still work to do between Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain, so there is a possibility this is going to be a saga in this summer transfer window.
“But this depends on Liverpool on how much they want to spend. Paris Saint-Germain are open to negotiating, but their conditions are expensive. So negotiations are going to take place for Barcola, but don’t forget that the player wants to go to Liverpool, and that Liverpool consider Barcola their top, top target.”
