Wafu B U20: Chelsea target Adeleke among Flying Eagles duo named in group stage Best XI
Following the conclusion of the group stage of the ongoing WAFU B U20 Championship, the Technical Study Group has unveiled its Group Stage Best XI, comprising the best-performing players in each position, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
CAF Zone B said the 11 players were selected for their outstanding talent, commitment, and impact on the pitch during the group stage.
Two Flying Eagles players, Abdulmuiz Adeleke and defender Odinaka Alfred, were included in the Best XI.
Six countries are represented in the Group Stage Best XI: Nigeria (2), Ivory Coast (3), Burkina Faso (3), Ghana (1), Togo (1), and Niger (1).
Adeleke earned rave reviews for his performances during the group stage, scoring back-to-back braces to inspire the Flying Eagles to consecutive victories over Ghana and Togo.
The Sporting Supreme teenage sensation only failed to find the back of the net in Nigeria's 2-0 defeat to Burkina Faso on Sunday.
Premier League giants Chelsea are closely monitoring Adeleke's performances at the WAFU B U20 Championship, with the club's African scout, Seyi Olofinjana, watching the 17-year-old from the stands in Ivory Coast.
The left-footed striker has previously trained with Chelsea and their French sister club, Strasbourg, with a view to a potential move once he reaches the age of 18.
