Newcastle United have agreed deals worth £35.69million to be confirmed during the pre-season training camp at La Manga.
Both Matthias Jaissle and Lukas Hornicek joined up with Newcastle in Spain prior to their arrivals being officially confirmed by the club.
On Monday morning, Hornicek’s move from SC Braga was confirmed after Newcastle triggered the goalkeeper’s release clause. Although the Magpies didn’t disclose the fee, a statement released by Braga confirmed the fee as €30.578million, which converts to roughly £26.19million.

Hornicek becomes Newcastle’s most expensive goalkeeper in the club’s history and is set to displace Nick Pope as first-choice heading into the new season. Pope has been made available to leave the club this summer but a move is yet to materialise.
In addition to the £26.19million spent on Hornicek, Newcastle have also paid Al Ahli around £9.5million in compensation to secure Jaissle as Eddie Howe’s head coach successor. It takes Newcastle’s summer spending on one head coach and five signings to just shy of £150million.

In the opposite direction, the club have sold Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali for a combined fee of around £170million. Club captain Bruno Guimaraes is also close to joining Premier League champions Arsenal despite Newcastle rejecting an initial bid for the midfielder.
Guimaraes is in Spain but will reiterate his desire to leave the club and join Arsenal with the hope of a deal being concluded prior to Newcastle’s friendly match at Valencia on Saturday. Newcastle open their Premier League campaign at home to Liverpool on August 23.
