Xabi Alonso handed six-player Chelsea boost before Juventus clash
Chelsea have added six players to Xabi Alonso’s pre-season squad after arriving in Hong Kong for the second stage of their summer tour.
Mykhailo Mudryk, Danny Welbeck and Geovany Quenda are among those joining the group before Wednesday’s friendly against Juventus.
Mike Penders, Gabriel Slonina and Pedro Neto have also linked up with Alonso’s squad following Chelsea’s week in Sydney.
The Blues faced Western Sydney Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur in Australia before travelling to Hong Kong, where they will meet Juventus at Kai Tak Sports Park on Wednesday. Kick-off is scheduled for 12.30pm UK time.

Chelsea confirmed that all six players have now joined Alonso’s group in Hong Kong.
Mudryk’s inclusion is particularly significant. The winger is set to return to team training for the first time since December 2024 after his anti-doping proceedings were resolved and he was cleared to play again.
ReadChelsea reported on Friday that Xabi Alonso had confirmed Mudryk would rejoin Chelsea during the Hong Kong stage of the tour. The manager described the Ukrainian as a “special player” ahead of his return to the group.
Welbeck has also joined his new team-mates after completing his move from Brighton, while Quenda is now available following a short break after representing Portugal at the World Cup.
Neto has returned following Portugal’s World Cup campaign, with goalkeepers Penders and Slonina completing the six additions.
The expanded group gives Alonso further options before facing Juventus and entering the final stages of Chelsea’s pre-season preparations.
