Liverpool concluded their pre-season tour of the USA on Sunday evening with a 4-2 defeat to Leeds United, in a match that highlighted both positive moments and areas requiring improvement.
Andoni Iraola’s side raced into a 2-0 lead in the first half and appeared in complete control, but Leeds responded strongly after the break to overturn the deficit and hand the Basque coach his first defeat in charge of Liverpool.

Iraola welcomed back Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak and Ryan Gravenberch for the clash after the trio enjoyed extended breaks following the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Wirtz marked his return with a goal, but Liverpool’s second-half collapse underlined the need for further reinforcements before the new season begins.
Off the pitch, transfer activity is expected to increase as the window enters its final weeks. Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola remains a top target for Liverpool while Curtis Jones continues to attract interest from Inter Milan.
According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool forward Keyrol Figueroa is attracting interest from English clubs Barnsley and Salford.
The 19-year-old was impressive during the Under-21s’ recent training camp in Slovakia and netted in a friendly victory over Cardiff on Saturday. Defender Wellity Lucky has returned from injury and is also set to go out on loan.
Keyrol Figueroa is an exciting striker who signed his first professional contract with Liverpool in May 2024. The son of former Wigan Athletic defender Maynor Figueroa, he joined the Academy at U14 level and is known for his pace and ability to score spectacular goals.
Figueroa can also operate on the right side of the attack and impressed for USA U17s at the 2023 CONCACAF U17 Championship, scoring seven goals in seven appearances as they reached the final.
He was capped by the USA up to U20 level before switching his international allegiance to Honduras, his country of birth, in May 2026.
After stepping up to Liverpool’s U21s in 2024-25, Figueroa started the 2025-26 season in fine form, scoring a hat-trick against Everton in Premier League 2.
He later earned a nomination for Premier League 2 Player of the Month in January 2026 and finished the campaign with 12 goals in 15 appearances.
