Tottenham have made it a priority to reinforce their attack in the final weeks of the transfer window.

Roberto De Zerbi clearly wants to bring in top-level players all over the pitch, so it could be a busy end. It can be a productive few weeks for Spurs as they look to start the season strongly and lay down an early marker. Spurs hold an interest in Liverpool star Cody Gakpo, which first emerged in June amid suggestions that the Netherlands international was prepared to leave Anfield. In recent weeks, they have formally registered their interest in Cody Gakpo as part of an ambitious transfer recruitment to reinforce their frontline.

Gakpo’s future at Liverpool is looking increasingly uncertain. The 27-year-old only signed a new deal last summer, but the emergence of Rio Ngumoha, the summer signing of Victor Munoz from Osasuna in July and the potential arrival of Bradley Barcola in a big-money deal from PSG could see the Dutchman’s importance diminish under new boss Andoni Iraola.
Former scout Bryan King thinks Gakpo would be a very good signing for Tottenham, although the North Londoners must first sell well to bring him in from Liverpool.
“I think it would be a very good signing for them. He’s a good player,” Bryan King exclusively told Football Insider.
“Done quite well in the World Cup, didn’t he? But again, if you’re going to bring in a player of that quality, you have to sell. They can’t; I know they’ve got rid of one front player [Randal Kolo Muani]. I think he’d be their type of player. I’d rate him above both Richarlison and Solanke.

“So, if that’s what the manager wants, at the moment, everything he’s wanted, they’ve gone out and bought, haven’t they? So, that’s going to be an interesting one. He’s going to cost them a lot of money, that’s for sure. At least £70m, I would have thought.”
Tottenham entering crucial phase in Gakpo deal
According to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham are planning to enter the key stages of talks with Liverpool over the signing of Gakpo. However, the deal heavily depends on the Reds’ valuation, as the versatile forward is not one of the players they are actively trying to move on this summer.
The Dutchman, who had a strong 2026 World Cup campaign, scoring three goals and adding an assist in four games, still has four years left on his current deal at Anfield. This puts the Merseyside club in a commanding position to ask for a premium for his services. Gakpo will certainly look to sort out his long-term future quickly and focus on playing regularly in the Premier League this summer. Knowing his minutes will be hampered if Barcola arrives from PSG, Spurs will want Gakpo to push internally for a move away from Liverpool, which could work in our favour.
