News
FootballTransfers runs through the biggest rumours and gossip from 4 August, including the latest updates on Rodri, Bruno Guimaraes and Bradley Barcola.
Barcelona could pounce on Rodri
Barcelona are keeping tabs on Real Madrid's talks over a deal for Man City midfielder Rodri, AS writes.
The 30-year-old is keen to return to Spain this summer, which has prompted Real Madrid to make a move for him. Terms are in place with the player, but there has been no breakthrough in discussions with Man City.
Because of this, Barcelona are now also in the mix to sign the World Cup Golden Ball winner. They are ready to pounce if Real Madrid can't agree a deal and have already made contact with Man City to find out what it would take to sign Rodri.

Arsenal are determined to wrap up a deal for Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes this week, TEAMtalk claims.
The Gunners have stepped up their pursuit of the Brazil international in recent days and made a formal offer of around €80 million on Monday. However, this bid was immediately rejected by Newcastle.
Discussions continue, however, and Arsenal are expected to make another bid for the player, who has been clear that he only wants to join the North London club. Sources close to the player believe that a breakthrough will be made this week.
Liverpool step up Barcola chase
Liverpool are now in formal talks with PSG over a deal for Bradley Barcola, as per Fabrizio Romano.
The France international has become a priority target for the Reds and is understood to be keen on the move after growing disillusioned at PSG, who would prefer to keep him.
However, the Parisians are set to bring in several attacking reinforcements this summer, which means that they could open the door to a Barcola exit. There is a sizeable gap in valuation between the two clubs, but Liverpool are now actively trying to strike a deal.
Rashford-style Zirkzee deal

Juventus want to sign Joshua Zirkzee on an initial loan from Man Utd, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness).
The Netherlands international remains a target for the Bianconeri despite the signing of Randal Kolo Muani from PSG, although a deal could be contingent on Jonathan David leaving the club first.
Juventus want to agree a similar deal with Man Utd as Barcelona did for Marcus Rashford last summer, initially taking the player on loan but with the option for a permanent move. New director Ricky Massara, who tried to sign Zirkzee for Roma in January, is driving Juventus' interest.
Newcastle start Froholdt talks
Newcastle have made initial contact with the entourage of Porto midfielder Victor Froholdt, O Jogo understands.
The Magpies have sought to gauge the young star's interest in a potential transfer after a remarkable first season in Portugal. Discussions are at a very early stage, and there has been no club-to-club contact yet.
Porto remain relaxed over the situation. Froholdt has publicly stated that he plans to stay this summer, and he is protected by an €85m release clause. Offers would have to be in that ballpark just to make the Portuguese champions consider a sale.
