Fabrizio Romano had reported that an agreement was almost done, with details surrounding Jørgensen’s salary among the final issues being discussed.
Chelsea remain open to the 24-year-old leaving this summer. Jørgensen has previously made clear that he wants more regular football after spending much of last season competing with Robert Sánchez.
His departure would also simplify Alonso’s goalkeeping options.
Mike Penders has now joined Chelsea’s pre-season squad following his spell with Strasbourg last season, while Gabriel Slonina has also linked up with the group in Hong Kong.
Strasbourg still appear to be working on a deal for Jørgensen, so the latest update should be viewed as a delay rather than a collapsed transfer.
However, Chelsea will now have to wait longer than expected for another squad exit to be completed.
