Transfer targets: Victor Osimhen, Vinicius Jr and Bruno Guimaraes
The summer window continues to hot up as Arsenal work on a huge double deal for Bruno Guimaraes and Vinicius Junior, while the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham continue talks to bolster their squads. The Gunners have seen a first official bid for the Newcastle captain rejected, and are said to have agreed personal terms on a club-record contract for the Real Madrid star.
Man Utd could take advantage of Arsenal's heavy spending with a swoop for left-back Myles Lewis-Skelly, having reportedly reignited interest from January. However, Newcastle left-back Lewis Hall is top of their wish list. Chelsea have confirmed the arrivals of Danny Welbeck, Jordan Henderson and Valentin Barco, and are now working on a deal for Pep Chavarria amid links with Alex Scott.
Liverpool have seen their first bid for Bradley Barcola rejected, said to be worth around £100million, but will go back in to test Paris Saint-Germain's resolve. Tottenham hope to pounce on that deal by making a move for Cody Gakpo, while they remain keen on Savinho and are now being linked with Victor Osimhen. Latest transfer news and rumours
Man Utd explore Hall and Lewis-Skelly alternative
Manchester United are aware that completing a deal for Hall will be far from straightforward and are already exploring alternative targets.
The club has reportedly assessed Arsenal youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly as a potential option, while Spanish outlet AS claim that United are also monitoring Racing Santander defender Jorge Salinas.
However, United could face competition from Barcelona for the promising defender.
Bruno Guimaraes to Arsenal a 'done deal'
Bruno Guimaraes’ move to Arsenal has been a “done deal” since the weekend.
That’s according to ESPN Brazil journalist Bruno Andrade, who reports that all major details of the transfer have already agreed behind the scenes.
However, Newcastle United have been left furious after details of the agreement leaked earlier than expected.
The club had hoped to keep negotiations confidential until they were ready to announce Guimaraes' departure and immediately unveil his replacement.
Amid reports a first bid was rejected on Monday, this report claims the deal was essentially finalised before then.
Fulham reveal Cesar Palacios and Gonzalo Garcia shirt numbers
Cesar Palacios’ shirt number has been confirmed after joining Fulham from Real Madrid.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder has signed a five-year contract at Craven Cottage, keeping him at the club until 2031 and Fulham have the option to extend the deal by a further 12 months.
Arriving from Real Madrid for an undisclosed fee, Palacios becomes new Fulham head coach Alvaro Arbeloa's second signing of the summer - hot on the heels of Gonzalo Garcia.
The striker was also unveiled on Monday evening, with the pair costing a combined fee of £42.5million to reunite with Arbeloa having worked under the Spaniard at Real Madrid during the second half of last season.
'Chelsea will NOT sign Maignan'
Claude Makelele speaking to ComeOn has made a Chelsea transfer prediction.
"Mike Maignan to Chelsea? I don't see Milan letting him go. He's still one of the best goalkeepers in the world, a true professional with Milan and with France.
“I saw him in Paris when he was 17, so I know exactly what he's capable of. In the end it always comes down to the player and his ambitions. If he feels it's time to move, then it's the right move for him, and I wish him well.
“Sometimes you have to spread your wings. That's for sure.
“When a player deserves it, you pay him. When you're talented, you should be paid what your level is worth. But it's not what matters most. Fees will only keep climbing.
“That's this generation, and the clubs pay because they know what these players will give them back.”
Barcola to Liverpool latest
Andoni Iraola may have moved one step closer to seeing his Liverpool wish being granted, with the club in talks to sign Bradley Barcola.
It is no secret that Liverpool are on the market to bring in a replacement for the recently-departed Mohamed Salah, with Iraola confirming a winger is at the top of his shopping list despite the arrival of Victor Munoz from Osasuna.
"I think it is difficult to say a number,” the Spaniard told reporters last month. “When the market is open, you have to be always open to new options to improve the squad.
"There are obvious situations where we need to sign players. Winger for example, we definitely need to sign a winger, but there are other situations where we will have to analyse what the market gives you, what is the cost, how we also see the players we have.
"We have some tricky positions where we have injured players that we trust, but it is still not the ideal situation, so it will depend on a lot of things."
According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain have now commenced talks over a deal for Barcola, with the Frenchman keen on a move to Anfield after reportedly deciding against signing a new contract with the reigning European champions.
Double Fulham deal
It’s been a busy night at Fulham as Cesar Palacios has also arrived from Real Madrid.
Arsenal star issues Vinicius Junior verdict
Christos Tzolis has said he is confident of impressing Mikel Arteta, despite Arsenal’s interest in Vinicius Junior.
The Greece international became the Gunners’ third signing of the summer transfer window upon completing a £34million move from Club Brugge last month.
Capable of operating out wide on both flanks and as a centre-forward, Tzolis is expected to be used as a left-winger next season and he’s impressed from that position in both of Arsenal’s fixtures this summer.
After claiming an assist in the behind-closed-doors win over MK Dons, Tzolis opened his account for Arsenal in their 4-1 victory against Girona at the weekend, and caught the eye with his overall play in Spain.
This, though, has not stopped Arteta from seeking to bolster his attacking options even further as Standard Sport understands the Gunners are exploring a deal for Vinicius Jr.
However, Tzolis has delivered his verdict on Arsenal potentially signing the Brazil superstar by insisting he plans to stake his claim for a spot on the left-wing.
'Bruno Guimaraes is perfect for Arsenal'
Claude Makelele is a big fan of Arsenal's move for the Newcastle captain.
Speaking to ComeOn, the Frenchman said: "Bruno Guimaraes is ambitious player sees his career one way: Champions League football, always, and teams built to win titles in Europe.
"Arsenal tick every box. They won the Premier League, they've gone deep in the Champions League, and they're built to go again.
"It's always right for a good player to join a great team, and Arsenal have done great business.
"Bruno Guimaraes is a very good player, exceptional, as we saw with Brazil. It's his career and his decision, but his game fits Arsenal perfectly."
Fulham confirm Garcia deal
It’s official! Fulham have confirmed the signing of Gonzalo Garcia from Real Madrid.
New head coach Alvaro Arbeloa using links with his former club to land this coup.
Garcia said: “I’m very grateful, very happy to be here.
“I have to thank the board and Arbeloa for the trust they’ve put in me, and I’m very, very excited to start.”
Liverpool arrivals imminent
Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola has allayed fears over a fresh injury setback for Jeremie Frimpong, and provided an update on when his World Cup stars are due to return.
Frimpong, who had to endure an injury-hit debut campaign at Liverpool last season, looked to be in some discomfort upon being substituted in the 4-2 loss to Leeds United on Sunday night.
The Dutchman started the pre-season friendly in Chicago, claiming an assist for Florian Wirtz in the first-half, but asked to be taken off with around ten minutes remaining at Soldier Field.
However, Iraola has revealed that the change was just a precaution, confirming his belief that Frimpong has not joined a injury list that already includes Joe Gomez, Hugo Ekitike, Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni.
