Liverpool goalkeeper Harvey Davies is set to stay as part of Andoni Iraola‘s first-team squad after showing his value to the group already in pre-season.
Davies only featured once on Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the United States – a 14-minute cameo against Wrexham – but the 22-year-old has sufficiently impressed.
The Athletic‘s Gregg Evans reports that Davies is expected to stay as part of Iraola’s senior setup until January before the situation is reassessed.
He is likely to be in place as fourth-choice goalkeeper behind Alisson, Giorgi Mamardashvili and Freddie Woodman.
Liverpool to offer Harvey Davies new contract

Liverpool are also preparing a new contract for the Scouser, who put pen to paper on a short-term deal before a loan move to Crawley last summer.
His current terms are believed to expire in 2027 and the club will look to secure his future with another extension, likely to 2028.
Their stance on Davies makes sense, with youngster Armin Pecsi sent on loan to TSV Hartberg and Czech stopper Vitezslav Jaros still recovering from a long-term knee injury.
Kornel Misciur is poised for a temporary move to a non-league side while Bailey Hall, who also travelled with the first team to Chicago, Nashville and New York, will resume duties with the U21s.
Davies provides a valuable homegrown option in the Premier League and is settled within Liverpool’s setup having been involved around the first team for five years already.
The likelihood is that he will not be required on the pitch but will instead be tasked with maintaining the standards in training while providing emergency cover.
Any decision on a January loan would almost certainly hinge on Jaros’ fitness, with the 25-year-old nowhere near a return from the injury which ended his time at Ajax prematurely.

Speaking while at Liverpool’s camp in Chicago last week, Iraola outlined the “different scenarios” facing the academy players called up for pre-season.
“Some of them are going to return to the U21s, some of them will go on loan, and some of them will stay with us because I think we will need them during the season,” the head coach told LFCTV.
“They’ve shown me that they have the level, they can give us quality minutes, a good level in training, and I’m sure some of them will stay with us, yes.”
