Liverpool face the real risk of losing Curtis Jones on a free transfer as he continues to show a ‘firm desire’ to join Inter Milan.
Tuttosport report that it currently remains unclear whether Jones will accept a contract renewal at Anfield. That’s despite Liverpool’s intention to offer one at the end of the summer transfer window.
Inter Milan Won’t Give Up
According to the newspaper, Inter Milan have not given up their efforts to sign the 25-year-old are ongoing despite the struggle to reach an agreement with Liverpool so far.
While the Italian champions have an ‘overcrowded midfield’ at present – nine players are vying for three starting spots – the strong interest in Jones refuses to die down.
They have not been distracted from their attempts to sign the Liverpool midfielder. Far from it in fact. He is a player who has been ‘specifically requested’ by the club’s management.
Their latest bid was raised to €35m, just €5m short of Liverpool’s asking price. The hope is that will tempt Liverpool into negotiations. Jones himself has an ‘iron determination’ to leave.

Jones, of course, would be free to negotiate a free transfer pre-agreement with clubs in Europe from January 1st. That scenario would shift the dynamics of the ongoing summer transfer saga with Inter Milan.
Inter too, will have taken notes of Jones’ recent on pitch spat with Dominik Szoboszlai following Liverpool’s defeat to Leeds United.
The midfielder has increasingly looked like a man who wants out. That incident was further demonstration of the fact for those who believe as much. Inter are certainly hoping it will work in their favour.
