**Cody Gakpo**’s performances went south last season and now his entire personage might follow, with **Tottenham Hotspur** reportedly preparing an offer in the region of £70m to bring him to north London. There appears to be some mixed messages floating around about this potential deal. The Mail say Liverpool “have no plans to sell Gakpo” and that “it would take a huge sum to change their stance”, but these things are fluid. The Athletic say “Liverpool have no intention of selling”, but also, and in the same sentence, that they “would judge his value relative to other deals this summer, including Morgan Rogers’ transfer to Chelsea”. So, in short, Spurs will have to whip out their recently-discovered XXL chequebook if they want to get this one over the line.
Talking about **Chelsea**, “multiple Premier League clubs” have contacted them to ask about the availability of **Mykhailo Mudryk,** recently freed from a doping ban, says the Mirror. They name only one of them: **Coventry City**, coached by two-time former Stamford Bridge manager Frank Lampard. The Sun specify that “two more Prem sides are believed to have enquired, while there is interest from three clubs in Europe”. The Mirror’s report on the battle for the Ukrainian’s services is inevitably, but pleasingly, headlined “**Mud Fight**”.
Coventry are also on the list of teams interested in Everton’s **Tim Iroegbunam**, alongside “clubs in Italy”, **Hull** (as [revealed inMonday’s Mill](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2026/aug/03/football-transfer-rumours-atletico-grealish-tottenham-osimhen-gakpo)) and **Ipswich**. Iroegbunam isn’t the only midfielder Hull fancy, they’ve apparently had a second bid knocked back for Augsburg’s **Mert** **Kömür**.
**Arsenal**, [as the Guardian reported yesterday](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2026/aug/03/premier-league-transfer-newcastle-reject-first-bid-arsenal-bruno-guimaraes), have opened formal negotiations with Newcastle over midfielder Bruno Guimarães, with the two parties around £10m apart in their valuation of the 28-year-old. The Express reckons the Gunners “can complete as many as **six transfer deals just this week**”. On the list of incomings are Guimarães, **Vinicius Júnior** and **Ferran Torres** – though the words “Barcelona wish to agree a new deal” and “also attracted interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Atlético Madrid” both suggest Torres joining Arsenal might be an outside bet. In terms of outgoings at the Emirates, Milan are keen on **Gabriel Jesus**, while **Fábio Vieira** and **Christian Nørgaard** are also unwanted. The Gunners want to snaffle a string of promising youngsters from domestic clubs, with Blackburn’s 18-year-old forward **Igor Tyjon**, Cardiff’s 16-year-old midfielder **Axel Donczew** and Crystal Palace’s **Mylo Bernard**, who has bits of both of those players being both a forward and 16, all on their shopping list.
**West Ham** need a winger and think Tottenham’s **Manor Solomon** might be the man, though they’ll have to outfight the equally interested **Fiorentina** if they want to land the 27-year-old. Negotiations are, apparently, under way. But Sunderland have resolved not to sell **Wilson Isidor** to the Hammers, leading the Londoners to prepare an £18m bid for AZ Alkmaar’s **Troy Parrott**. West Ham will have to battle – _deep breath_ – **Porto**, **Como**, **Ajax**, **Real Betis** and **PSV Eindhoven** for the striker’s signature.
The east London club also want Celtic’s **Arne Engels**, and are preparing an improved offer for the midfielder. Also at Celtic and expecting his agent to be busy is **Alistair Johnston**, who **Everton** have identified as a solution to their right-back woes, and his current employers have identified as a potential source of £15m. **Everton** are the club expected to soon snaffle Arsenal’s Nørgaard, with a move valued at around £7m said to be close.
