Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri has been linked with a host of clubs and advanced talks are ongoing with RB Leipzig. The Gunners may not entirely lose control of the talent.
The youngster spent the 2025/26 campaign on loan at Marseille. This came right after he impressed quite in the 2024/25 season for the Gunners, contributing to six goals as a 17-year-old.
In France, things fell flat. Sport Witness covered the criticism sent his way, as he played just nine times in Ligue 1.
This has led to links with many clubs in England and abroad, with AC Milan also in the mix to sign him. More details are emerging, with Nwaneri nearing an Arsenal exit.
Leipzig advancing in move
Journalist Carlo Pellegatti, who is generally reliable with information about Milan, has revealed details of the 19-year-old’s possible move to Germany.
He spoke about the Arsenal man on his Youtube channel, with RB Leipzig close to meeting the Gunners’ demands.
Pellegatti said – relayed by MilanNews: “What’s the situation now? Arsenal has yet to decide whether to send him to another team or how to manage the player’s future. But Arsenal would like to, and are already talking about it – talks have taken place and are at an advanced stage – with Leipzig.”
While Milan are likely to miss out on Nwaneri, Arsenal could insert a buyback clause in his Leipzig contract.
Pellegatti detailed further: “Leave him there (at Leipzig) for a year, maybe another year, and then buy him back for €55-€60m.”
Our take: Gunners haven’t given up hope
One bad loan doesn’t make Nwaneri a bad player. Besides, he is still only 19 and not too long ago, he was adding value to the Arsenal first-team.
Since they don’t need an attacking signing, earning a capital gain from his exit makes a lot of sense. It would hand the London club some extra funds to improve the squad this summer.
Leipzig could be the perfect destination considering their reputation of developing players. Whether they’d agree to a buyback clause remains to be seen.
