“Yes, no problem”–Liverpool player insists he’s 100% fit after injury woes

Alexander Isak has insisted he is 100% healthy and ready to prove himself following an injury hit first year at Liverpool.

VG Sporten have comments from the striker today as he looks to ensure this season is not another write off for him.

Liverpool Injury Issues

The 26-year-old joined Liverpool in a €145m move from Newcastle United last summer . He was intended to be the Reds’ new star man up front after proving himself at St James Park.

He arrived after a season in which he had managed 27 goals and six assists in 42 games for the Magpies. 23 of those came in the Premier League alone. But he was unable to repeat that in his first year at Liverpool.

Instead, he managed just 22 appearances, with four goals and one assist, and a total of 1032 minutes of action due to injury issues across the campaign.

He had arrived at Anfield nursing a problem from Newcastle, but adductor issues, a broken fibula and muscle problems all combined for a miserable campaign.

They saw him spend 164 days on the treatment table and miss 33 games for club and country in total. It was the longest injury period of his career to date.

Pre-Season Plan

Now he’s back. And he’s aiming to use this pre-season to ensure he is fit and ready for Liverpool under new manager Andoni Iraola.

He started the recent 4-2 defeat to Leeds United, playing the first half before being substituted. Those were his first minutes since the World Cup, where France were eliminated by France in the round of 16.

“It is always the most important thing in these matches, to get the body going. It felt good as a team too. I think we played a good half,” he said.

When asked if he feels 100 percent healthy, he says yes.

“Yes, no problem. At the same time, it is clear that you have to use the warm-up to build up your physical fitness. And that is what we are going to do,” he added.
