Xabi Alonso has provided an update on Mykhailo Mudryk ahead of Chelsea's clash against Juventus. The 25-year-old winger could make his first appearance for the Blues since November 2024 when they face Luciano Spalletti's side at the Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong on Wednesday.
Speaking to reporters ahead of the pre-season friendly, the Chelsea manager announced that Mudryk will be available for selection. Alonso said: "He came directly from the airport to the hotel.
"Yesterday was more about the feelings and emotions than to assess fitness level. But yes, he could play. 90 minutes too early. He can be selected, he can play."
When quizzed on the Ukrainian's fitness, the Blues boss said: "He's been a long time training on his own. It's different - he needs to be involved with teammates. He's really professional. Now it's about growing progressively."
On welcoming Mudryk back into the squad, Alonso said: "We are thrilled Misha could be with us. You could see his smile, the great feeling for him to be back. Fitness level, we will see. He has been working hard. Now it's about trying to do things with his teammates."
