Ndiaye reports for pre-season duty — and that’s the story… for now
Iliman Ndiaye is back in training with the Everton pre-season squad in Germany, and for once the news is just that he showed up.
The Senegal international linked up with the group on Monday after an extended break following the World Cup, where he made three appearances, scoring once and setting up two more.
He arrives in Germany off the back of Everton’s 2-1 win over Hamburger SV, and gives Moyes his first proper look at him since Senegal’s exit from the tournament.
His return doesn’t, of course, settle anything on the contract front.
Talks over a new deal have dragged on since January, with Ndiaye’s camp said to be holding out for a release clause Everton haven’t agreed to.
He’s contracted until 2029, which gives the club some breathing room, but it hasn’t stopped the speculation. Man City, Man Utd and Tottenham have all been linked, and in the past few days Al Hilal have been credited with a £75m offer — though Iliman Ndiaye is understood to want to stay in Europe.
Moyes won’t be worrying about any of that this week. Not too much, anyway. He’ll just be glad to have one of his most productive players back on the grass, with pre-season friendlies mounting and the Palace opener under a month away.
