‘Talks have taken place’ – Arsenal move advances for Hale End star
The Ethan Nwaneri transfer situation is developing quickly, with Arsenal reportedly in advanced talks with RB Leipzig over a permanent move. The Gunners could also protect themselves by including a buyback option for the 19-year-old.
Nwaneri returned to Arsenal this summer following a difficult loan spell at Marseille. He made only nine Ligue 1 appearances in France after struggling to establish himself under the club’s new manager.
Several clubs have since shown interest in the attacking midfielder. RB Leipzig now appear to have moved ahead of AC Milan in the race for his signature.

Italian journalist Carlo Pellegatti says talks between Arsenal and Leipzig have already taken place and are at an advanced stage.
Pellegatti claims Arsenal could sell Nwaneri for around €35million to €40m. However, the Gunners may also seek a buyback option worth approximately €55m to €60m.
Such an agreement would allow Arsenal to raise funds without completely losing control of Nwaneri’s future. Leipzig also have a strong reputation for developing young players and providing regular senior football.
Competition for attacking minutes at Arsenal is increasing. BBC Sport has tipped Max Dowman for a much bigger first-team role this season, with the 16-year-old able to play both centrally and from the wing.
Nwaneri remains highly rated after making his senior breakthrough as a teenager. However, a permanent move could now offer him the regular football he struggled to find last season.
No final agreement has been confirmed. Arsenal’s desire to include a buyback option suggests they could still see Nwaneri as part of their long-term plans if his development continues in Germany.
