Jorgensen set for Strasbourg loan as Chelsea-BlueCo pipeline continues

Robert Sánchez's grip on the Chelsea number one shirt has left Jörgensen with little senior football to speak of since his £20.7m move from Villarreal in 2024, and it is that lack of game time, more than anything else, driving him towards Strasbourg now.
A high-profile error away to PSG in the Champions League under then-manager Liam Rosenior did his cause no favours either. He trained with Chelsea earlier in their pre-season tour before flying back to London last week specifically to sort out his next move, with Coventry City also weighing up a swoop before Strasbourg pulled clear as the likelier destination; the Championship club had already missed out on re-signing last season's loanee Carl Rushworth by the time Jörgensen became available.
Strasbourg's interest is not incidental. New head coach Hugo Oliveira, a former goalkeeping coach, specifically wanted a ball-playing goalkeeper once Mike Penders returned to Chelsea at the end of his own loan there, and identified Jörgensen as the man to fill that gap.
Should it go through, the 24-year-old Dane would become the third Chelsea goalkeeper to head to the Ligue 1 club in as many seasons, after Djordje Petrović and Penders himself, part of a wider pattern under BlueCo's shared ownership of both clubs, where 14 deals have already been struck this summer alone, including Chelsea's permanent signings of Valentin Barco, Emmanuel Emegha and Mamadou Sarr from Strasbourg.
Even shared ownership does not remove the need for agreement from everyone involved, including the player, which is why Jörgensen's own approval mattered here.
Strasbourg have also brought in Chelsea academy defender Genesis Antwi, 19, on loan this week, continuing the traffic between the two clubs.
The relationship has not always run smoothly in the other direction, either: Liam Rosenior left Strasbourg to take the Chelsea job himself, only to last less than four months before Xabi Alonso was appointed his permanent successor last month.
