Tottenham make surprise move for £65m Chelsea star
The Nicolas Jackson transfer situation has taken another twist after Tottenham reportedly added the Chelsea striker to their summer shortlist.
Spurs want to strengthen their attack, although they have not yet approached Chelsea with a formal offer.
Jackson returned to Stamford Bridge this summer after spending last season on loan at Bayern Munich. The German club chose not to activate its purchase option, so Xabi Alonso now has a decision to make over the 25-year-old.
Tottenham’s interest adds another possibility for Jackson before the window closes. Chelsea also have plenty of competition for places in attack, which could influence Alonso’s plans.
Football.london reports that Tottenham are monitoring Jackson as they consider further attacking additions.
Other reports claim Chelsea value the Senegal international at around £65million. Aston Villa have also shown interest, with Unai Emery already familiar with Jackson from their time together at Villarreal.
Chelsea’s attacking picture has changed significantly since Jackson first established himself at Stamford Bridge. Alonso now has several options through the middle and must decide how the striker fits into his plans.
João Pedro provides one option, while Liam Delap, Emmanuel Emegha and Danny Welbeck have increased the competition. That depth gives Chelsea more freedom to consider a sale if another club meets their valuation.
Tottenham could therefore test Chelsea’s position if they decide to step up their interest. However, they have not submitted a bid or opened formal negotiations at this stage.

A move between the two London rivals would attract plenty of attention. For now, though, the Nicolas Jackson transfer remains at the interest stage rather than approaching an agreement.
