Liverpool’s decision to let Mohamed Salah leave on a free transfer this summer always felt like it would produce headlines for months to come.
And that’s been the case, with the Egyptian linked to the Saudi Pro League, MLS, and Turkey for weeks now.

A move to Besiktas appeared to be the frontrunner for weeks, only for those talks to collapse over financial terms, throwing the entire situation wide open again. Now, just days after one Istanbul giant walked away from the table, a rival Super Lig club has swooped in – Trabzonspor.
According to Aspor journalist Kaya Temel, Mohamed Salah will arrive at in the city of Trabzon to finalise his agreement with Super Lig side Trabzonspor this week.
It was reported over the weekend that Trabzonspor executives met Salah’s long time representative Ramy Abbas on 1 August and tabled a two-year contract worth 17 million euros a year, part of it funded by sponsors the club have courted specifically to cover the cost.
Salah’s camp reportedly want a share of shirt sales in the region of 20 to 25 per cent, and that Trabzonspor are willing to accept it.
Now Temel reports:
“Unless there’s a last-minute snag, Salah will be in Trabzon tomorrow evening. A private plane and 4 personnel are ready and waiting for the player!” Temel wrote on X.
Trabzonspor ended last season in third place in the Super Lig and capped it off by lifting the Turkish Cup in May, ensuring Europa League football for the campaign ahead.
Their most recent league title came in 2022, and since then Galatasaray have gone on to win four straight championships.
Meanwhile, reliable Egyptian journalist Ismael Mahmoud has reported today that Al-Ittihad remain in talks with the Liverpool legend.
